Book Review - The Alchemist

The Alchemist
Paulo Coelho

EVERYTIME I opened this book to read it someone said they had read it and what a great book it was. I have never read a book so popular. Especially because I have owned it for more years than I care to admit and have never opened it.

Perfect Description - A Magical Little Novel

Translated in 56 languages
Sold more than 20 million copies.... Crazy

It was really good - I think the only hiccup I would say would be I wish I had more time to actually read it - and ponder. It has loads of information that is very 'deep' and knowledge worthy to gain.
I enjoyed it and plan to read it again once life settles down a little more.
Catchy Story, Adventure, Love, Inspiration, Spiritual, Interesting

Favorite Lines.... I guess I had a few.

The fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself.
No heart has suffered when it goes in search of its dream because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and the eternity.
People who are happy, have God with them.
Very few follow the path laid out for them -- the path to their Personal Legends and to happiness.
Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way.
Master the lessons we've learned as we've moved toward that dream.
One 'dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.'
Darkest hour of the night came just before the dawn. (Labor)
Mostly just the hearts of those who are trying to realize their Personal Legends are children. The are not told what they cannot do or what they cannot dream....we then become adults who fall into a routine of standard living.
Life's simple lessons - When you possess great treasures within you and try to tell others of them, seldom are you believed.
Your eyes show the strength of your soul.
Everything in the universe evolves.
Don't give into fear, if you do you won't be able to talk to your heart.
The world is the only visible aspect of God.
Where your treasure is, there also will be your heart.

No matter what he does, every person on Earth
plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn't know it.
