Homeschooling can be an adventure of its own especially when you move to different places. I have tested out a few different avenues and honestly I have learned lots about myself and how I want to teach them.
Instead of joining a Coop which we had done in the past (mostly they meet once a week and teach classroom style and I would teach as well possibly a different level)
I decided to join this group called KLASS. Simple. Homeschooled Kids. 2-3 Field Trips a Month. I have to plan one a year.
We had our first one this week at the Wabash/ Erie
Canal which worked out perfectly because Levi is currently managing a job in Delphi so he got to go with us.
On February 22, 1832, the Wabash & Erie Canal was started in Fort Wayne, IN, on the anniversary of George Washington's birthday. Once completed, it connected Toledo, OH (Manhattan), and Evansville, IN. A July 4, 1843 grand opening celebrated its connection of Lafayette, Indiana as the head of steamboat navigation on the Wabash, with Toledo, Ohio, on Lake Erie. The Toledo to Lafayette portion was in service longer than the southern section.

Replicas of what buildings or storefront would look like back then... they even had a few buildings moved and placed on the canal to keep the history. |
