Chicken Party

Thankfully we were cleaning up when it started to pour down rain. We were all so gross that it actually felt really nice.

Austin took the killing job and ended the day covered in blood.

Getting started - teaching the class.

We invited Farmer aka Elliot to come show us his skills.

Megan and her crew have butchered with us before. They bought a farm down the road about a year ago and have jumped into homestead life.

CHICKENS! We got a call from Purdue to purchase chickens for $2 a piece so we called a few families to see if they wanted to help butcher 245 chickens. We did it! Everyone went home with a load for the freezer and the kids managed to tend their selves for a couple hours.

Bookclub!

We read Smoky the Cow Horse and Minn of the Mississippi.
Of course, we had to have one pond date for book club. It is a favorite for all the kids.

Smoky is a mouse-colored horse which is born on the range. After a couple of years, he is taken to the Rocking R Ranch where he is trained by a thirty-year-old cowboy named Clint to be a cowhorse. The cowhorses work during the spring, summer, and fall on the ranch, but are let back out on the range to forage in the winter.

Minn is a snapping turtle born at the headwaters of the Mississippi. In delicate and detailed pencil drawings, Hollings follows the adventures of the turtle down the Great River past Rock Island and St. Louis and Vicksburg for twenty-five years until, fat and content with life, she reaches a cypress swamp below New Orleans.

Cecily and Papaw were hanging out in the party barn together.

Ms. Anne! She is expecting number seven any day now!

All the mamas. We have met monthly for book club for over four years now.

Sadly, this was our last original group book club meeting. Two families will be moving on and at first, I thought we would end but the other families want to keep going and I do honestly love getting together and reading together. We have invited a family that has been on our wait list for a while and may look to invite more as well. We are taking August off but will start back up in September.

Creek w Friends

I watched the Chadbourne kids while they signed papers to sell their house. Of course, we found the creek and got dirty.

Chadbourne Family is Off.

We said goodbye to a sweet family we have known for years from church. They are taking their homeschool life on the road! They will be traveling in an airstream across the country.
Coraline is smitten by their Riley. Their oldest Alexandra has been such a great role model for Clairana in Young Womens.

Soccer Life.

Baby Bear is Playing Soccer! Cecily and I were asked to help out on another team for a few weeks while people were on vacation. Cecily is not 4 yet so we were not able to sign her up this year, this was a fun surprise.

 Millie with Coraline and Riley.

 Coach Asay helping Cecily score.

Nephi helped on the team too.

Throw in!

Sonnet and Bella watching the big kids play

 Coraline!

After pictures of us - nice and toasty hot last week!

Mamaw and Papaw always come to cheer everyone on. I think Cecily plays just because Mamaw is there.

FIRST DAY!

After so much preparation it happened!
AMAZING DAY.
Lots of little people and mamas and a few dads too.
Our new building is wonderful and has a fenced in playground.
It all ran smoothly, and I am so thankful.
Per co-op day usual I borrowed most of these pictures.

After Assembly, I teach the 6/7 graders. We had tea and sat in the couch room and talked about the book - It Just Couldn't Happen for an hour, and it was such a delightful way to start the morning.
I later teach the same group of kids Science. We had two experiments this week on cells.

We have three different classrooms. Although two of the classrooms combined for Science and Art but we have three moms in those classes.

Lauren is teaching IEW this year and it is so nice to spend the afternoon just with Nephi while the little girls play in the gym and Clairana gets to hear history stories and draw maps with Millie.

Nephi and Mrs. Goodsell - presentation time. She was asking him questions.

Assembly!

 Amy with the grammar kids.
